Clip the highlights

I have been fascinated by computers ever since I bought my first Sinclair ZX81 Computer in 1983. It used a standard cassette recorder for recording programs. The monitor was an ordinary black and white television set.
Then came the ZX Spectrum in 1984, same thing, but in full colour! That was really WOW!
Since then I was hooked on computers and I am sure I have spent more time behind a computer screen than I have sleeping.
I have had the pleasure? of having bought each and every one of Mr. Gates' OS's. From the first DOS on a twin floppy drive, then on a twenty meg hard drive, a 286, 386, 486 with an MS DOS Bible, twice as thick as a normal Bible.

Then came Windows and I was taken prisoner. In DOS you could always figure out any problems and fix them yourself, because each app you installed was in it's own cocoon. In Windows the .dll's, registry, system32, malicious software and what not had me completely baffled. All I could do was try and play along.
Then, after having XP installed on our PC's for a while, things started to go wrong and the computers became slower and unstable.
